Revolution midfielder and Leominster native Diego Fagundez was named the MLS player of the week. Fagundez scored a goal and had two assists in the Revolution’s 5-0 win over the Galaxy on Sunday. It was the 18-year-old’s first multiple point game of his career. Fagundez has now scored a goal in four straight games.

 Boston Breakers and US women’s national team forward Sydney Leroux said she was the object of a series of racist and sexist tweets in recent days.

 The Big Ten is adding lacrosse as a sport in 2015 and welcoming powerhouse Johns Hopkins as an affiliate member for men’s lacrosse only, two moves that could further boost the profile of the conference in the East.
