Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is set to play Tuesday night in his first minor league game on a rehabilitation assignment. Rodriguez said he didn’t have a timetable for rejoining the Yankees. The Yankees said Rodriguez is scheduled to start for Single-A Charleston in the South Atlantic League. Rodriguez is supposed to play at least three innings against Rome during the game in South Carolina.

In other news: Victor Cruz and the New York Giants are closing in on a long-term contract. The sides hope to have an agreement in place by the start of training camp later this month.

Boston University officially joined the Patriot League as a full member.
