ST. LOUIS — Back in spring training, when Lance Lynn started working on his slider, he had no idea how much he’d end up learning on it during the season.
The first two years of his career, the curveball was his second pitch. But the more outs he got with the slider, the more encouraged he was to keep using it.
“It seemed to have a lot of success early on in the season,” Lynn said. “And the way things go, once you get a feel for something and start rolling with it, you don’t really like to change as the year goes on.
