* The Blue Jays' Carlos Delgado struck out four times in a game for the first time since May 11, 2002, at Oakland. Delgado has struck out six straight times after homering in his first two at-bats Saturday.

* The Devil Rays' Carl Crawford is among only 11 players -- including Garry Templeton twice -- to have 17 or more triples in a season over the past 50 years.

* Yankees closer Mariano Rivera passed Roberto Hernandez for ninth all time with his 321st save.

* Jeremy Bonderman left his start for the Tigers after being hit on his left shin by a Jose Valentin line drive in the second. X-rays were negative and Bonderman is expected to make his next start Saturday. Valentin's infield single broke an 0-for-24 skid.

* The Yankees showed a video tribute to Thurman Munson before the eighth. Today marks the 25th anniversary of the plane crash that claimed the life of the Yankees catcher and captain.
