New Cub a hit on road

In his second game as a member of the Chicago Cubs -- and his first wearing his familiar No. 5 -- Nomar Garciaparra went 1 for 4 with a run and an RBI in a 5-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies last night at Denver.

Garciaparra drove in the Cubs' fourth run during their five-run second inning with a single to center, scoring Corey Patterson. He scored on Sammy Sosa's single. Garciaparra wore No. 8 in his first game with Cubs Monday because catcher Michael Barrett already had the No. 5, which Garciaparra wore during his entire time in Boston. Barrett initiated the swap of numbers yesterday.
