Astros' Biggio hit by pitch during game

NEW YORK --Houston Astros second baseman Craig Biggio's was hit by a pitch in the right hand Wednesday night and he had to leave the game.

Biggio, who was leading off the top of the ninth, appeared to swing at a pitch from Mets closer Braden Looper when he immediately fell to the ground, holding his hand.

Biggio stayed in to run but was replaced in the field in the bottom of the inning.

While on first, Biggio flexed his hand repeatedly, then made a headfirst slide into second on a grounder by Jeff Bagwell.

Biggio was 1-for-3 with a double.
