St. Louis shortstop David Eckstein was a scratch a day after sustaining a concussion breaking up a double play. Eckstein said his head ``was kind of throbbing pretty good" when he attempted batting practice several hours before game time.

Rangers 3B Hank Blalock collided with 1B Mark Teixeira on an inning-ending infield pop out in the sixth. Blalock came all the way across the infield and was calling for the ball along with Teixeira when they collided. Both fell, then got up smiling -- Teixeira showing Blalock the ball in his glove.
