Yankees starter Randy Johnson has gone two straight starts without a strikeout for only the second time in his career. The other time was in April 1989, when the lefthander was a rookie with the Montreal Expos.
Sluggers Jim Thome and Paul Konerko returned to the White Sox lineup. Thome went 3 for 4 with a walk after missing four games because of tendinitis in his right wrist and back spasms. Konerko went 3 for 3 with two walks after missing a game with a bruised left arm.
The Colorado Rockies cleared the field in the ninth inning of their game against the Giants in San Francisco after fans threw garbage, including beer bottles, on the field following the ejection of Barry Bonds.![]()
