Wang is strong in first rehab outing

Yankees righthander Chien-Ming Wang didn't allow a hit over five scoreless innings in an extended spring training game in Tampa yesterday, his first outing since he hurt his right hamstring while running March 23. Wang is scheduled to pitch in another minor league game Thursday -- likely with Single A Tampa -- and might rejoin the Yankees' rotation April 24 at Tampa Bay . . . Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez missed his second straight game with tendinitis in his right wrist but hopes to return in a couple of days . . . Astros righthander Jason Jennings will miss at least two starts with tendinitis in his throwing elbow . . . Phillies righthander Freddy Garcia was activated from the disabled list and is scheduled to make his first start today . . . Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin will decide after tomorrow's bullpen session whether Randy Johnson needs one more minor league start as he recovers from offseason back surgery.

Wright will vie for Giants' backup job
Veteran quarterback Anthony Wright has reached an agreement on a two-year contract with the New York Giants, said a person close to the league who requested anonymity because the deal hadn't been signed. Wright will compete with Jared Lorenzen and Tim Hasselbeck for the No. 2 spot . . . An accounting error led the Philadelphia Eagles to pay running back Brian Westbrook his $3 million roster bonus twice, and the team has filed a grievance with the NFL against Westbrook because the money hasn't been repaid yet, a team spokesman said . . . Tight end Steve Heiden signed a four-year contract extension with the Cleveland Browns.

Kenseth pulls out Busch Series victory
Matt Kenseth made the save first, then picked up the victory in the O'Reilly 300 Busch Series race in Fort Worth. Kenseth ended Carl Edwards's two-race Busch winning streak by pulling his car out of a spin without hitting the wall early in the race, then overtaking Denny Hamlin with nine laps left . . . Former Champ Car champion Paul Tracy will miss at least one race after sustaining a compression fracture to his back in a crash during practice for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach . . . John Force failed to qualify for eliminations for the first time in 395 races and nearly 20 years, leaving the 14-time Funny Car champion out of the NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas.

Conley Sr. says Oden is still undecided
The man who hopes to be Greg Oden's agent says the Ohio State 7-footer is still undecided about whether to turn pro. Mike Conley Sr. downplayed reports that Oden's father had told the Indianapolis Star his son was leaving school, saying Oden "100 percent, as of this moment, hasn't decided . . . he's going to talk to his mom today, he's going to talk to me tomorrow, and he's going to talk to Thad Matta on Monday." Conley also said his son, Buckeyes guard Mike Conley Jr., will decide by the end of the week whether to leave school early . . . Wichita State hired Winthrop's Gregg Marshall as its men's basketball coach. Winthrop replaced Marshall with assistant coach Randy Peele . . . The NHL rescinded two game misconducts called on Predators forward Scott Hartnell, meaning he won't have to sit out a game in Nashville's first-round series with San Jose. The NHL also suspended Predators forward Alexander Radulov for one game for a hitting-from-behind incident . . . The Providence Bruins clinched an AHL playoff berth as Hannu Toivonen shut out the host Springfield Falcons, 2-0 . . .
