April 8, 2008

BOSTON—Detroit Tigers second baseman Placido Polanco made a throwing error in the third inning of Tuesday's game against the Boston Red Sox -- ending his major league record errorless streak at 911 chances and 186 games.

Polanco was charged with an error when Manny Ramirez tripled to center. Polanco took the throw from center fielder Brandon Inge, but the relay was down the line and third baseman Miguel Cabrera couldn't handle it.

The ball rolled into the dugout, allowing Ramirez to score.

Polanco hadn't committed an error since July 1, 2006.
