Greg Maddux became the ninth pitcher in major league history to win 350 games, reaching the plateau in his fifth try and leading the Padres to a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies last night in San Diego.

Maddux (3-3) held the Rockies to an unearned run - set up by his three-base throwing error - and three hits in six innings. He struck out one and walked none. Adrian Gonzalez hit a three-run home run as the Padres ended a five-game losing streak.

The 42-year-old Maddux is 350-217 in 23 seasons. He hadn't won since beating the Dodgers, 2-0, April 13. He followed that with three losses and a no-decision.

Maddux is now four wins behind Roger Clemens for eighth on the career list.

Rays 2, Angels 0 - At St. Petersburg, Fla., Scott Kazmir pitched six scoreless innings in just his second start of the season, and Tampa Bay did just enough damage offensively to send the Angels' Joe Saunders to his first loss.

One day after James Shields shut out Los Angeles on one hit, Kazmir (1-1) held the Angels to a single and two doubles. The reigning AL strikeout champion, who spent the first five weeks of the season on the disabled list, walked three and struck out six against the Angels, who have lost three straight and have not scored in their last 18 innings.

Evan Longoria drove in the only run off Saunders (6-1) when he grounded into a force play with the bases loaded in the first inning. Saunders, trying to become the AL's first seven-game winner, allowed four hits, struck out three, and walked a season-high four in six innings.

Mets, 12-6; Reds, 7-1 - Carlos Beltran hit a bases-loaded triple and drove in five runs, and Johan Santana (4-2) picked up his first home win as the Mets took the opener of a day-night doubleheader with Cincinnati.

The Reds rebounded in the second game behind Bronson Arroyo (2-4), who struck out nine over eight dominant innings. Jeff Keppinger had a career-high five hits to help Cincinnati get the split.

Indians 12, Blue Jays 0 - Grady Sizemore homered twice and drove in five runs, powering Cleveland to a whitewashing of visiting Toronto, which lost its third in a row.

Sizemore had three hits, including a leadoff homer to start a six-run first inning against Dustin McGowan (2-3). Sizemore added a three-run shot in the fifth off Jason Frasor to make it 12-0.

Yankees 5, Tigers 2 - Darrell Rasner won his second consecutive start since coming up from the minors and Derek Jeter hit his first homer as New York ended a six-game losing streak to host Detroit.

Orioles 6, Royals 5 - Kevin Millar hit a three-run homer to help visiting Baltimore to its 12th straight victory over Kansas City.

White Sox 8, Mariners 4 - Brian Anderson and Carlos Quentin each homered and combined for five RBIs in the second, and Chicago sent host Seattle to its fifth consecutive loss.

Rangers 6, Athletics 4 - Host Texas had its shutout streak broken at 33 innings, but still won its fifth in a row behind a homer and three RBIs from Milton Bradley.

Marlins 11, Nationals 0 - Visiting Florida won its sixth straight as Dan Uggla hit his fourth career grand slam and drove in five runs, making it an easy night for Andrew Miller (3-2), who allowed two hits in seven innings.

Giants 8, Phillies 2 - Tim Lincecum (5-1) struck out eight in eight impressive innings, and Omar Vizquel had three hits in a successful return from left knee surgery to help host San Francisco end a five-game skid.

Pirates 5, Braves 2 - Tom Gorzelanny (3-3) shook off Mark Teixeira's two-run homer in the top of the first to shut out Atlanta during the rest of his 7 1/3 innings, and Jason Bay hit a two-run homer for Pittsburgh.

Cubs 7, Diamondbacks 2 - Alfonso Soriano hit a go-ahead double in a six-run seventh to help Chicago beat visiting Arizona.

Astros 5, Dodgers 0 - Chris Sampson (2-3) pitched three-hit ball over seven innings, and Darin Erstad and Miguel Tejada each drove in two runs for Houston in Los Angeles.

Cardinals 5, Brewers 3 - Ryan Ludwick hit a two-run single with two outs in the ninth off Brewers closer Eric Gagné (1-2) to snap visiting St. Louis's three-game skid.
