NEW YORK—Derek Jeter was in the New York Yankees' lineup Wednesday against Baltimore, one night after getting hit on the left hand by a pitch.
"I'm fine," Jeter said. "Definitely good."
The star shortstop left Tuesday night's 12-2 loss to the Orioles in the third inning when he was plunked by right-hander Daniel Cabrera. X-rays were negative, and Jeter was considered day to day with a bruised hand.
"I feared the worst when he got hit last night because it was a loud noise," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "We were fortunate."
Jeter was penciled in to play shortstop and bat second Wednesday against Baltimore lefty Garrett Olson.
"I'll watch him in BP to see if he's favoring anything," Girardi said, "but I don't expect to see anything."![]()
