Andrew Miller limited host Seattle to one run and six hits over seven innings, and the Florida Marlins beat the reeling Mariners, 6-1, last night.

Just hours after Seattle fired general manager Bill Bavasi, the punchless Mariners went out and lost their eighth straight at home, their longest home losing streak in nearly 12 years. They are 22 games under .500 (24-46).

Miller (5-5) matched his career high completing seven innings, struck out two and retired 12 of the final 14 batters he faced.

Miller won for the first time in his last five starts.

Seattle starter Carlos Silva (3-8) gave up two runs in the first inning. He was ejected with two outs in the fifth when he argued a call at first.

Braves 7, Rockies 1 - Chipper Jones hit a two-run single in the fifth to break open a scoreless game, Jair Jurrjens (7-3) pitched into the eighth inning without allowing a run, and Atlanta won at Denver. The contest was a makeup from a snow-out April 10.

Giants 8, Tigers 6 - John Bowker hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the eighth inning to spoil Fernando Rodney's season debut, and host San Francisco won its first interleague game in seven tries this year.

Mets 9, Angels 6 - Carlos Beltran homered his first two times up as a DH this season, Mike Pelfrey won for the first time in 11 starts, and New York won the opener over Los Angeles at Anaheim, Calif.
