Alex Rodriguez passed Mickey Mantle on the all-time home run list, and Derek Jeter hit No. 200 of his career to help the New York Yankees beat the Blue Jays, 9-4, yesterday in Toronto.

Rodriguez, Jeter, and Brett Gardner each had three RBIs as the Yankees rebounded after being blanked, 5-0, Friday night by Roy Halladay's two-hitter. New York is 5-1 following a shutout, outscoring opponents, 36-16.

Rodriguez's 537th home run moved him past Mantle and into sole possession of 13th place.

A-Rod drove a 3-and-2 pitch from lefthander Brian Tallet off the left-field foul pole to begin the fourth inning, his 19th of the season. It was Rodriguez's 192d home run with the Yankees, tying Tino Martinez for 15th place on the franchise list.

"You've got to take a step back and enjoy the moment," Rodriguez said.

A-Rod's milestone shot came three innings after Jeter led off the game with a drive to right, his fifth of the year. It was the 18th time Jeter has led off a game with a home run.

New York righthander Darrell Rasner (5-7) gave up four runs in the first but shut out the Blue Jays over the next four innings to win for the second time in nine outings.

Mets 3, Rockies 0 - Jose Reyes homered and the resilient New York bullpen shut down visiting Colorado after Pedro Martínez left with a sore shoulder, combining on a one-hitter.

Fernando Tatis and Brian Schneider also drove in runs for the Mets (50-44), who have won eight straight for the first time since June 7-15, 2006. They're a season-best six games over .500.

Martínez cruised through the first three innings without allowing a hit, but the three-time Cy Young Award winner was replaced by Carlos Muniz to start the fifth. The team said Martínez had tightness in his right shoulder.

Braves 4, Padres 1 - Jeff Francoeur had a tiebreaking broken-bat single with the bases loaded in the sixth inning to help visiting Atlanta beat San Diego and extend Greg Maddux's winless skid to 12 starts.

Maddux (3-8), who won his 350th game May 10, is one start short of his longest winless drought, which was a 13-start stretch from May 11-July 14, 1990, with the Chicago Cubs.

Indians 8, Rays 4 - Ryan Garko drove in five runs to help Matt Ginter earn his first win in more than four years, and host Cleveland dealt Tampa Bay its season-high sixth straight loss.

The Rays were scoreless for 22 innings over three games in Cleveland until Cliff Floyd delivered a two-run single with two outs in the eighth inning.

Cubs 8, Giants 7 - Rich Harden struck out 10 in an impressive debut for Chicago, which blew a five-run lead in the ninth inning before beating visiting San Francisco on Reed Johnson's single in the 11th.

Harden, acquired from Oakland in a six-player deal Tuesday, didn't allow a run and gave up five hits and walked three in 5 1/3 innings.

Pirates 12, Cardinals 11 - Jason Michaels hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning, and host Pittsburgh rallied from six runs down in the eighth to beat St. Louis.

Jason Bay hit a pair of two-run homers for Pittsburgh, which overcame the Cardinals' season-high 22 hits.

White Sox 9, Rangers 7 - John Danks (7-4) struck out eight in 7 2/3 innings against his former team as Chicago won at Texas. Ian Kinsler's run-scoring single in the eighth for Texas extended his hitting streak to 24 games, longest in the majors.

Angels 4, Athletics 1 - Ervin Santana (11-3) allowed five hits over seven scoreless innings, Howie Kendrick had two hits, and visiting Los Angeles prevailed.

Diamondbacks 10, Phillies 4 - Randy Johnson (6-7) helped secure his 290th victory with a two-run double to start an eight-run fourth inning, and Arizona won at Philadelphia.

Astros 6, Nationals 4 - Hunter Pence homered and drove in three runs to help Houston win at Washington.

Reds 8, Brewers 2 - Edinson Volquez struck out 10 in seven sharp innings for his 12th win, and Adam Dunn homered twice to lead Cincinnati over host Milwaukee.

Twins 6, Tigers 5 - Joe Mauer hit a home run and Brendan Harris homered and had a season-high four RBIs as Minnesota won at Detroit.

Royals 5, Mariners 4 - David DeJesus hit a two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth as Kansas City rallied.

Marlins 5, Dodgers 3 - Dan Uggla doubled home the go-ahead run in the 11th inning, Jorge Cantu homered, and visiting Florida beat Los Angeles.
