DETROIT—Jermaine Dye hit a two-out, two-run homer in the ninth inning to lift the Chicago White Sox to a 6-5 win over the Detroit Tigers on Friday night.

The White Sox rallied to win in the ninth for the first time in 39 games this season after Carlos Guillen put Detroit ahead with a tiebreaking homer in the seventh inning.

D.J. Carrasco (1-0) picked up the win by getting two outs in the eighth and Bobby Jenks pitched the ninth for his 20th save in 23 chances.

Chicago has won three straight and 16 of 24 and leads the Minnesota Twins by 3 1/2 games and Detroit by 6 1/2 in the AL Central.
