David Price was a bonus for the Rays bullpen last season when the rookie lefthander helped Tampa Bay reach the World Series. Now he'll be getting the call much earlier, beginning tonight in Cleveland when he makes his season debut as the fill-in for injured starter Scott Kazmir. Price will be promoted from Triple A Durham, where he went 1-4 with a 3.93 ERA in eight starts. "I know he definitely feels like he belongs here," said Rays manager Joe Maddon . . . The Cardinals activated Rick Ankiel from the 15-day disabled list, reversing course from a day earlier because the outfielder had a strong workout. Ankiel had been on the DL since May 4 after a headfirst crash into the wall left him with a bruised right shoulder and body soreness . . . The Rockies placed starting catcher Chris Iannetta on the 15-day DL with a strained right hamstring. Iannetta was injured while running the bases Saturday night . . . Shelley Duncan had one of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's three homers during a 10-4 road win over the Pawtucket Red Sox . . . The Portland Sea Dogs rolled to an 8-3 home win over the Connecticut Defenders behind seven strong innings from Ryne Lawson.

Chinese investor buying into Cavaliers
The Cavaliers have signed an agreement with an investment group from China to become minority owners of the NBA franchise and its arena, a partnership that could impact superstar LeBron James's future in Cleveland. The Asian conglomerate, which includes JianHua Huang, a Chinese businessman who has brokered sponsorship deals with the New York Yankees and other sports franchises in the US, could acquire up to 15 percent of Cavaliers Operating Company, the entity that owns the team and operates Quicken Loans Arena. The deal must be approved by the NBA's board of governors. If approved, the deal would provide marketing opportunities for the Cavaliers and James, who is eligible to become a free agent in the summer of 2010. James has stated he wants to become the first billionaire athlete.

Dolphins' Starks in truckload of trouble
Dolphins defensive end Randy Starks was charged with using his truck to hit a police officer who tried to stop the vehicle on foot in Miami Beach. Police said the officer tried to stop Starks, 25, when he was driving a truck packed with 13 people early yesterday in heavy traffic. Starks kept slowly moving forward even as the officer was beside the truck, and police said Starks swerved the vehicle slightly, hitting the officer in the chest and pinning him against another vehicle . . . The agent for Steelers linebacker James Harrison said the player's 2-year-old son could be released from a Pittsburgh hospital today after being bitten by a pit bull last week.

Leipheimer could be in for a big climb
Levi Leipheimer has another chance to shed his "perennial runner-up" label today in Stage 16 of the Giro d'Italia. The Montana native battled through 95-degree heat and hung with the other leaders in the 15th stage in Faenza, Italy. He enters the potentially decisive uphill leg third overall, 43 seconds behind race leader Denis Menchov of Russia. Danilo Di Luca of Italy is second, 34 seconds behind. Lance Armstrong moved up from 14th to 13th, 8:28 behind . . . Alejandro Valverde of Spain won the Tour of Catalonia in Barcelona, six days after receiving a two-year suspension from competing in Italy for being implicated in a blood-doping case.
