■Phillies center fielder Shane Victorino had his suspension for his part in a benches-clearing brawl at San Francisco Aug. 5 reduced, and he was out last night for the first of two games.

■Braves closer Craig Kimbrel struck out two in a perfect ninth for his 37th save in 42 chances, breaking a tie with Todd Worrell for the most saves by an NL rookie since 1969.

■Nationals’ catcher Jesus Flores’s home run was his first since May 8, 2009. He missed most of the 2009 and all of last season after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder.

Atlanta’s latest win stretched its lead in the NL wild-card race to six games over the Giants, who came in 2 1/2 games behind Arizona in the NL West.

■White Sox righthander Phil Humber left the game in the second inning when he was hit in the face by a line drive off the bat of Cleveland’s Kosuke Fukudome. The team said Humber was struck above the right eye and was removed as a precautionary measure.
