■ Carlos Ruiz had three hits, including a three-run homer in the seventh and a three-run double in the eighth to become the first Phillies hitter to drive in seven runs since Ryan Howard against the Yankees June 20, 2006.
■The Braves rallied from a 6-0 deficit against Roy Halladay and the Phillies, then came back from four down in the eighth.
■ Brian McCann hit a grand slam for Atlanta. He was poked in the eye with an errant high-five from teammate Michael Bourn after the homer.
■The Rangers’ Mike Napoli was diagnosed with an ocular migraine, or a spasm in the eye. He started at first and reported no problems.
■Yankees’ third baseman Eric Chavez left the during his at-bat in the fifth inning because of a whiplash injury and possible concussion. The Yankees say he was injured in the top of the fifth diving for J.J. Hardy’s double down the line.
■Pittsburgh catcher Rod Barajas and manager Clint Hurdle were ejected in the second inning against the Cardinals. Barajas threw his mask after getting tossed by plate umpire Angel Campos, apparently for arguing after a pitch from A.J. Burnett called a ball.
