Steinbrenner was also a common pop-culture reference. He was famously voiced by Larry David in the sitcom "Seinfeld" (with the back of his head played by Lee Bear) in various story lines involving Jason Alexander's character, George Constanza, who worked for the Yankees. Steinbrenner was played by Oliver Platt (pictured left) in an ESPN miniseries called "The Bronx is Burning" based on the 1977 Yankee season. He also hosted Saturday Night Live in 1990. In the last decade, he made light of his criticisms of Derek Jeter's off-the-field partying by starring in a Visa commercial with Jeter.
