Pawtucket 5-6, Louisville 1-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Chip Ambres hit a three-run homer to lead Pawtucket to a 5-1 win over Louisville in a game completed Wednesday night after it was postponed by rain on Tuesday.

Later, Justin Sherrod went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Red Sox to a 6-0 win in the game originally scheduled for Wednesday night.

Louisville and Pawtucket played four innings on Tuesday night before a thunderstorm postponed play. The game was restarted at 6 p.m. EDT on Wednesday.

Ambres homered in the first inning on Tuesday night. Shawn Wooten added a two-RBI double in the fifth on Wednesday for Pawtucket, which earned their first win in six games this season.

Kenny Kelly cracked an RBI double in the ninth to score Louisville's only run.

Pawtucket reliever Scott Cassidy (1-0) earned the win, allowing one hit and striking out six in four innings of work.

Louisville starter Jared Fernandez (1-1) took the loss, giving up five runs on five hits with four walks and five strikeouts across eight innings of work.

The second game was shortened to seven innings due to the restart of the first game.

Sherrod opened the scoring in the first inning with an RBI double off Louisville starter Tom Shearn (1-1). Sherrod doubled again during a three-run fifth.

Red Sox starter Abe Alvarez (1-0) earned the win, scattering four Louisville hits over six innings of work.
