The Yankees have offered former Red Sox player Kevin Youkilis a one-year contract to plug their hole at third base while Alex Rodriguez recovers from hip surgery.

According to the New York Times, the Yankees offered Youkilis one year at $12 million. The Times also reported Youkilis may consider a two-year deal with another club, possibly the Indians, which would reunite Youkilis with former Red Sox manager Terry Francona.

Youkilis, 33, was traded from the Red Sox to the White Sox in June. He was a member of the Red Sox’ World Series championship teams in 2004 and 2007, and was named an American League All-Star three times.
