    On Thursday night, Jacoby Ellsbury set the Red Sox team record for stolen bases in a single game when he stole five against the Phillies. He broke a record prviously shared by Ellsbury and Jerry Remy. Here's a look at 19 other interesting Red Sox single-game records.

    Pitcher John Dopson set the record for most balks with four on June 13, 1989.

    On June 18, 1975, Fred Lynn set the record for most total bases in a single game with 16.

    The record for most strikeouts in a 9-inning game is tied between Phil Plantier in 1991 and Ray Jarvis (pictured second from the left) in 1969. Both whiffed 5 times.

    The record for most RBIs in a game is 10, and is held by 4 players: Nomar Garciaparra in 1999, Fred Lynn in 1975, Norm Zauchin in 1955 and Rudy York in 1946.

    The record for most wild pitches is held by Daisuke Matsuzaka, who threw 4 against the Minnesota Twins on May 27, 2009, and Milt Gaston, who set the mark in 1929 vs. Detroit.

    On April 29, 1986, Roger Clemens set the record for most consecutive strikeouts in a game when he fanned 8 batters in a row.

    Four Red Sox players are tied for the record of most intentional walks in a single game when they were each walked 3 times intentionally – Adrian Gonzalez in 2011 in Baltimore, David Ortiz (pictured) in 2010 against Tampa Bay, Wade Boggs in 1990 versus Detroit, and Carl Yastrzemski in 1968 against the Chicago White Sox.

    The record for most doubles in a single game is a five-way tie: Victor Martinez (pictured) in 2010, Rick Miller in 1981, Orlando Cepeda in 1973, Al Zarilla in 1950, and Billy Werber in 1935. All hit 4 doubles.

    Twenty-six players are tied for the record of most home runs in a single game with 3. Before Will Middlebrooks did it earlier this season, Dustin Pedroia was the last to do it, on June 24, 2010.

    Johnny Pesky is tied with Spike Owen for most runs in a game with 6. Pesky did it in 1938, Owen in 1986.

    Waite Hoyt managed to retire 34 batters consecutively on Sept. 24, 1919 when the Red Sox played the Yankees. The game went 13 innings, and the Red Sox won, 2-1. Hoyt went the distance and faced 43 batters.

    The record for most batters faced in a single inning is 16, shared between 3 pitchers: Howard Ehmke (pictured) and Lefty O'Doul both in 1923, and Doc Adkins in 1902.

    Frank "Lefty" O'Doul, who also played for the New York Giants, set the Red Sox single-inning record for most runs allowed when he gave up 13 runs in the 6th inning vs. Cleveland on July 7, 1923.

    Ted Cox (pictured): Most consecutive hits to begin a career with 6 in 1977.

    Roger Clemens: Most strikeouts in a nine-inning game on April 29, 1986 striking out 20 Detroit Tigers.

    Cy Young's 511 wins put him No. 1 on baseball's all-time wins list. He is tied with Roger Clemens as the franchise's all-time wins leader with 192.

    Early Webb's 67 doubles during the 1931 season—while a member of the Red Sox—still stands.

    Bill Mueller became the first player in Major League history to hit grand slams from both sides of the plate in one game, hitting two slams on July 29, 2003 against the Texas Rangers.
