The Red Sox lead the league in runs scored, but there are some problem areas of their offense that may need fixing. In fact, it’s their own team philosophy is that a player must hit in an American League lineup to keep his job. They held Jose Iglesias’ feet to the fire on that one, even demoted him after he got off to start where he was hitting over .500. In the bottom of the ninth, John Farrell was about to pinch hit Stephen Drew for Will Middlebrooks, but Iglesias, who had two hits on the night, hit into a game-ending double-play and the situation never arose.
