General manager Ben Cherington has successfully rebuilt the Red Sox so far, but the trick now is to keep it going, and to make the right moves with stiff competition in the AL East.

Cherington said he was willing to trade prospects in the right deal and feels there is now enough depth in the farm system to deal redundant players and still maintain a top farm system. Cherington also believes Andrew Bailey will come out of his recent malaise, and he had high priase for the leap in production Jarrod Saltalamacchia has made.

Cherington said the team that stays healthiest, has the best pitching, and can make the best in-season adjustments will prevail in the AL East.
