The search to rediscover the pitcher who has made three straight Opening Day starts, threw a no-hitter three seasons into his career, and pitched in eight playoff games took two years.
When the Red Sox collapsed in 2011, Jon Lester was one of the primary players left standing in the rubble. He was a poster child and a fall guy for a clubhouse gone wayward.
Then he would have to endure the worst season of his career — a 9-14 campaign in 2012 that saw him give up an astronomic 110 earned runs — before he rediscovered his form in 2013.
Now he is starting Game 1 of the Division Series.
