April 16 – The Red Sox left Fenway Park after their late-morning Patriots’ Day game and learned about the Boston Marathon Bombings en route to Logan Airport and a flight to Cleveland. Led by Will Middlebrooks, many of the players took to Twitter using the hashtag #BostonStrong and Facebook to express their concern, prayers and good wishes for the victims, Boston and its people. The players’ organic and unified reaction to the attack was an early sign that Team Chemistry was legit. The next night, a chilly Tuesday at Progressive Field on April 16, the team placed a “Boston Stong 617” jersey in their dugout. It’s been with them there ever since.
