Fifty-eight players -- 40 on the roster and 18 nonroster invitees -- are in Red Sox camp. Here is a primer on the 40-man roster:

74. Luis Mendoza Was 8-7 with a 3.74 ERA in 25 starts at Single A Sarasota.
52. Wade Miller From 2001-04: 52-32, 3.57 ERA, 562 strikeouts in 652 2/3 IP.
75. Anibal Sanchez Led New York/Penn League in strikeouts (101) and ERA (1.77).
38. Curt Schilling At 38, postseason icon has three years, $38.5 million remaining on his contract.
76. Chris Smith ATV accident cost him most of 2002. Partially torn labrum cost him last month of 2004.
50. Mike Timlin In two seasons with Boston, is 11-8 with a 3.83 ERA in 148 appearances.
