ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- David Ortiz kept trying to catch himself from lunging after bad pitches the past couple of weeks. He was in the throes of a 7-for-47 slump after his weak liner to third base in the first inning of last night's 6-5 loss to the Devil Rays when the cork popped off the bottle.
