Damon back in the lineup

Red Sox outfielder Johnny Damon will return to the starting lineup tonight, bat leadoff, and play center field as the Sox take on the Oakland A's at Fenway Park.

Damon has been in Boston since Monday night, recovering from an injury to his left shoulder. He will play for the first time since Sunday, when he served as the designated hitter, and returns to center field for the first time since Friday at Yankee Stadium.

Shortstop Edgar Renteria, who was rested last night while Alex Cora got a start at shortstop, returns to the lineup tonight as well and will bat second.

Outfielder Adam Hyzdu has been recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket to replace Gabe Kapler, who ruptured his left Achilles' tendon in last night's game in Toronto.

The team also today released reliever Matt Perisho, who pitched one time in a Red Sox uniform.
