Rainout scratches Schilling-Johnson showdown

With tonight's rainout, the Red Sox and Blue Jays will play a split day-night doubleheader tomorrow (1:05 p.m. and 7:05 p.m.) with Tim Wakefield going in the afternoon and Curt Schilling pitching in the night game.

Fans holding tickets for tonight’s game may use those same tickets for admission to tomorrow’s 1:05 p.m. contest. Gates will open at 11:05 a.m.

Wakefield will now come back on three days rest to pitch Saturday against the Yankees, which wipes out the much anticipated Curt Schilling-Randy Johnson matchup. Schilling will now pitch Sunday against Mike Mussina.

The team has yet to make any definitive announcements on whether Foulke will need surgery, although the reliever said on the radio on Friday that he would have his right knee operated on at the end of this week.

Kevin Youkilis was visiting with Dr. Gill this afternoon to have his right ring finger looked at and was hopeful that he could swing a bat today.
