CHICAGO -- Not long after Jose Contreras defected from Cuba on Oct. 25, 2002, the Red Sox started preparing offers for the big righthander. Boston was prepared to clean out the Fenway Park vault for Contreras, who compiled a 117-50 mark in seven seasons with the Cuban national team. (Full article: 898 words)
