The Red Sox and Yankees will meet on five weekends next season, according to the draft of the 2007 Major League Baseball schedule sent to clubs last week. The schedule is expected to undergo minor revisions after being reviewed by all 30 clubs.

All three Sox-Yankees series in Fenway Park are scheduled for weekends: April 20-22, June 1-3, and Sept. 14-16. The Sox are scheduled to make their first visit to New York April 27-29 and then return Aug. 3-5. Boston's final regular-season trip to New York is a midweek affair, Aug. 28-30.

The Sox will open the season with a two-city trip to Minneapolis and Seattle, one of four trips they will make to the West Coast. Opening Day for Boston is scheduled for April 3, a Tuesday, but that could be one of the dates tweaked, given that the MLB regular-season schedule will begin with an ESPN game Sunday night and other teams will play the next day.

After a three-game set against the Twins, the team the Sox see most during spring training since both train in Fort Myers, Fla., the Sox are scheduled to play three against the Mariners at Safeco Field.

After an offday Monday, the home opener is scheduled for April 10 against the Devil Rays. The Sox and Tampa Bay play once more before the Mariners come in for a four-game series that will end on Patriots Day, April 16.

In interleague play, the Sox are scheduled to play six games against the Braves, who will visit Fenway Park May 18-20, then host the Sox June 18-20 at Turner Field. The rest of the Sox' interleague games will be played against National League West teams. They will host the Diamondbacks and Rockies June 12-17, and travel to Los Angeles to play the Dodgers and San Diego to play the Padres.

The Sox will make three trips to the West Coast before the All-Star break.

After the trip to Seattle in the season's first week, the second West Coast trip will be June 4-10, when the Sox play the Athletics and Dodgers. The third trip is a three-city, 10-game excursion in which the Sox will travel 6,288 miles: It begins in Atlanta (June 18-20), continues to San Diego (June 22-24), and ends in Seattle (June 25-28).

The final West Coast trip comes Aug. 6-12, when the Sox play the Angels in Anaheim, Calif., then fly to Texas to play the Rangers.

The Sox will be the only team in the American League East not to finish the regular season against a division opponent. After completing a series in St. Petersburg, Fla., against the Devil Rays Sept. 24, their last scheduled game against a division rival, the Sox will return home for games against the Athletics and Twins, with the season finale Sept. 30. That opens the possibility the Sox could start and end the regular season against Twins aces Johan Santana and Francisco Liriano.
