Red Sox hike ticket prices

BOSTON --Being a World Series champion comes at a price -- a higher price for fans, that is.

The team says 2008 ticket prices at Fenway Park will jump about 9 percent on average.

Field box seats will cost $125, up from $105, while upper bleachers and standing room remain at $12 and $20, respectively.

Infield grandstand seats and right field roof boxes will go up from $45 to $50.

Red Sox president Larry Lucchino says the added revenue is needed to pay for a team that will be competitive and entertaining every year.

Lucchino also raised the specter of the rival New York Yankees, who he said will realize a "gigantic" increase in revenue when they move into a new stadium in 2009.
