Red Sox OF Moss optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket

TOKYO, Japan—Red Sox outfielder Brandon Moss, a hero in Boston's season-opening win against Oakland, has been optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Moss played right field in Boston's first two regular season games in Japan in place of the injured J.D. Drew. He hit a ninth-inning home run that tied the first game, which the Red Sox went on to win 6-5 in 10 innings.

Moss went 2-for-8 with two RBI in the two games against Oakland.

Moss batted .282 with a team-best 16 homers for Pawtucket last season. He hit .280 in 15 games with Boston.

The Red Sox now have 26 players on the active roster.
