BOSTON—The Boston Red Sox acquired right-handed reliever Eric Hull from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for minor league infielder Christian Lara.

The 28-year-old Hull was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on March 31.

He was assigned Tuesday to the inactive list at Triple-A Pawtucket and to Boston's extended spring training program in Fort Myers, Fla.

Hull was 4-3 with a 2.74 ERA at Triple-A Las Vegas last season. He pitched 6 2-3 innings for Los Angeles last September, allowing four hits and three runs for a 4.05 ERA.

The 22-year-old Lara, a shortstop, played last season for Single-A Lancaster. He batted .238 with nine home runs and 53 RBI in 99 games.
