BOSTON—For the second straight game, the Boston Red Sox have scratched their starting pitcher.

Daisuke Matsuzaka, suffering from flu-like symptoms, was replaced for Wednesday night's game with the Los Angeles Angels by left-hander Jon Lester.

Josh Beckett was scratched from Tuesday's start with neck stiffness.

Lester was originally scheduled to start Thursday afternoons finale with Los Angeles.

Matsuzaka (4-0) is latest Red Sox player to be hit by a flu-like bug making its way through the Red Sox clubhouse. Beckett, Jason Varitek, Manny Delcarmen and Clay Buchholz are among the others who have been affected.
