Red Sox at the halfway point

Remember when we tracked his plane?Daisuke Matsuzaka showed flashes of brilliance as the Red Sox fifth starter this season, tossing back-to-back one hitters in April. But as we've seen time and time again in the past five years, it can all unravel quickly for Dice-K.
In early June, Matsuzaka had season-ending Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. At best, Matsuzaka could return for the final few months of his six-year contract next season. Dice-K went 3-3 with a 5.30 ERA in 2011. In his four-plus years with the Red Sox, he was 49-30 with a 4.25 ERA. Matsuzaka never lived up to the hype that accompanied his arrival from Japan before the 2007 season.
