Red Sox at the halfway point
The short storyRemember when the Red Sox had a shortstop dilemma? Seems like a long time ago, now that both Jed Lowrie (left) and Marco Scutaro (right) have battled shoulder injuries. Lowrie, with left shoulder nerve damage, is looking to come off the DL after the All-Star game. Scutaro has the starting job for now.
When healthy, the 27-year-old Lowrie has been an impact player on offense, although he struggled in June and batted only .111 in 36 at-bats. Scutaro is batting a respectable .277 with a .705 OPS in 41 games. Jose Iglesias continues to struggle with the bat in the minors and won't be ready for prime time anytime soon.
