Pregame update

By Chris Snow, Globe Staff

Some quick hits from a soggy Fenway Park ...

-- Manager Terry Francona said that Bronson Arroyo will be available to pitch out of the bullpen tomorrow night for the opening game against the Yankees. He will not be available to pitch out of the bullpen on Saturday or Sunday.

-- Wade Miller had shoulder surgery today to repair the labrum in his traumatized right shoulder and will not rejoin the team this year. Miller was transferred from 15-day to the 60-day disabled list to open a spot on 40-man roster for newly acquired reliever Mike Stanton.

-- Outfielder Adam Stern, who had surgery on a partial tear in the rotator cuff, will rejoin the team, but will not play again this season.

-- First baseman Roberto Petagine has an excused absence for tonight’s game and won’t be at the ballpark. From the sounds of it, Petagine won’t be at Fenway for the weekend series against the Yankees, either.

Tonight’s Red Sox lineup:

1. Johnny Damon, CF
2. Edgar Renteria, SS
3. David Ortiz, DH
4. Manny Ramirez, LF
5. Jason Varitek, C
6. Kevin Millar, 1B
7. Bill Mueller, 3B
8. Trot Nixon, RF
9. Tony Graffanino, 2B
