Sure, the Red Sox have left you with nothing to watch on TV this late in the season for the first time since 2002, but you'll always have 2004. In that spirit, we're recapping last year's historic ALCS between the Red Sox and Yankees. Today, Game 6 ...

The bloody red sock made its debut a year ago today. A day after having a minor surgical procedure on his ankle tendon, Curt Schilling pitched seven innings of one-run ball in Yankee Stadium to force a historic Game 7. This was also the game Alex Rodriguez slapped a ball out of Bronson Arroyo's glove.

Some memorable quotes from after the game:

  • Curt Schilling: "We just did something that has never been done. It's not over yet by any stretch."

  • Kevin Millar: "We have a chance to shock the United States of America."

  • Gabe Kapler: "I don't think it's been overdone, the whole ankle thing. It's incredibly courageous what he did and he should be commended. We are so proud of him tonight. We needed him. We could not have won this game if he had not done what he did tonight."

  • Dan Shaughnessy: The 2004 Boston Red Sox -- the wildest of wild-card entries -- are just one victory from hardball heaven and the greatest baseball comeback story ever told.
