Latest word is Dodgers, A's, and Giants are all out of the David Wells sweepstakes, leaving the Padres as the only palatable destination for the left-hander.

Padres may insist the Sox take Woody Williams in return, although with San Diego having re-signed Trevor Hoffman, Sox may ask for Scott Linebrink in return. Dodgers thought price too steep for DW, did not want to weaken their pen.

Forget about Manny to the Dodgers. No shot.

Texas, Sox may still try to make a match on Manny.

Sox in on Milwaukee 1B Lyle Overbay, but another team appears to have the inside track.

The Edgar Renteria three-way is still very much alive and could happen tonight, but the situation is fluid.
