Red Sox manager Terry Francona said that pitching coach Dave Wallace is scheduled for hip replacement surgery on June 1. Ideally, Francona said, Wallace could be walking without crutches at about the time of the All-Star break, which is mid-July. Francona is hopeful that Wallace could help the club in some capacity later in the season, though probably not as pitching coach.

Wily Mo Pena, as promised, will get his first start in center field tonight as a member of the Red Sox. He did play center field last night for two innings after starting in right field.
