Wells back to DL
The Red Sox placed David Wells on the 15-day disabled list today (retroactive to April 13) with a right knee sprain and recalled righthanded pitcher Jermaine Van Buren from Triple-A Pawtucket.
Wells began the season on the DL and allowed seven runs to Toronto Wednesday night in an 8-4 loss at Fenway Park. Van Buren is available for this afternoon's game against the Mariners. The 25-year-old made his major league debut with the Cubs last season and went 0-2 with a 3.00 ERA. In two relief appearances this season for Pawtucket, he has pitched four scoreless innings.
