No word on 'medical issue'

By Chris Snow, Globe Staff

Confusing evening here at Yankee Stadium.

Sometime this afternoon or evening Curt Schilling left the Stadium with what Sox spokesman John Blake called a "non-pitching-related medical issue he had to have checked out." There was no word on what that issue was. Several reports indicated he went to a medical facility.

Schilling apparently left the Stadium in a Yankee vehicle wearing his Sox uniform. He was back quickly and on the field during Sox batting practice at 6 p.m.

Coming off the field, Schilling's teammates tried to keep the media away from him. Keith Foulke set a moving pick on two reporters. Schilling, when someone did get to him, said only: "It's nothing. I'm fine. It has nothing to do with baseball."
