Beckett gets new deal
Terry Francona announced that Josh Beckett agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Red Sox.
"I always wanted to stay here in front of these fans, in this stadium," said Beckett after the game. "It's a good deal."
The extension is for three years, starting next season, plus a option year for 2010.
It's a vesting option based on number of starts Beckett makes in 2009 or combined number of starts in '08 and '09, but there's also a club option.
