With runners in scoring position with less than two outs in the fifth, the Sox didn't fail this time, tying the game at 3-3. David Ortiz drove in Alex Gonzalez with a scorcher into right. Then Manny Ramirez scored Mark Loretta with a sacrifice fly to center, although Ortiz, running on the play, had to scramble back to first to avoid being thrown out.

Angels centerfielder Chone Figgins now has 10 putouts. Jered Weaver had allowed three runs and seven hits, season highs for the undefeated rookie.
