Quick session with Terry Francona today. Probably because it feels like we all just left from yesterday's mini-marathon.

Tim Wakefield, complete with ace bandage tightly wrapped around his midsection and ice on his back, entered Francona's office at 3:50 p.m. with trainer Paul Lessard before the door shut. Wakefield, according to Francona, threw today and feels better than he has, confirmed by Wakefield, who gave a quick "I feel good, I feel OK," as he headed out to batting practice. That doesn't necessarily mean that Wakefield will take his scheduled start on Sunday. "If we needed to, we reserve the right to maybe bump him back one more day to Monday," Francona said. "We're going to have a pitching move on Monday anyway [likely to be current Pawtucket starter Kyle Snyder]. We could just do it Sunday if we needed to. I kind of told Wake we'd leave that open. We'll see. ... I think the good news is he made a lot of improvement today. Felt better."

David Wells also threw on the field around 3 p.m. this afternoon, and didn't look like he was struggling too much. Francona said that he is going to try to throw a side session tomorrow, bumped up from later in the week because he was doing well.

Keith Foulke may also be getting closer to a side session.
