ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Third baseman Mike Lowell is out of the lineup for the Sox tonight. X-rays on his injured left foot were negative, but he is very sore. Lowell wants to play on Saturday but it will be a wait-and-see situation.

Newly acquired catcher Javy Lopez got in around an hour ago. Terry Francona will not play him tonight so he can get his bearings with the team, but Lopez will catch tomorrow night. Doug Mirabelli will catch the Sunday afternoon game.

Keith Foulke will throw again on Saturday and he is telling folks in Pawtucket that he will join the Red Sox in Kansas City next week. Francona is not so sure about the timetable.
