Stern to Orioles

By Steve Silva, Boston.com Staff

The Red Sox announced today that outfielder Adam Stern was traded to the Baltimore Orioles, completing the deal for catcher Javy Lopez, who was released early in September by Boston.

Stern spent the majority of the 2006 season at Triple-A Pawtucket, batting .258 with eight home runs and 34 RBI in 93 games. He was placed on Pawtucket’s disabled list on August 16 with a season-ending right hamstring injury and was moved to Boston’s 60-day disabled list on August 28.

The lefthanded batter opened the 2006 season with the Red Sox, hitting .150 with four RBI's in ten games before being optioned to Pawtucket on April 19.
