O'Brien makes Sox radio debut

By Gordon Edes, Globe Staff

Dave O'Brien, the Quincy native and Syracuse grad who broadcast Marlins and Mets games before joining ESPN, makes his Red Sox broadcast debut this afternoon on WRKO (680 AM). He'll be working the game with Joe Castiglione. O'Brien will work a partial schedule of Sox games while still doing work for ESPN; Glenn Geffner is the third man in.

The Mets brought their two best players, Jose Reyes and David Wright, from Port St. Lucie for today’s game at City of Palms Park (1 p.m.). Otherwise, Willie Randolph's crew went light on regulars. Chan Ho Park, who signed with the Mets as a free agent just before camp (Feb. 9) is starting for the Mets. Also scheduled to pitch are former Sox pitcher Aaron Sele, Pedro Feliciano, Ambiorix Burgos, and Steve Schmoll.

Tim Wakefield and Jonathan Papelbon both go today for the Sox. This probably will be the last time they're piggybacked in the same game, Terry Francona said.
